Rosalee Wilhoit was initiated into Lambda Chapter in 1953. She was a faithful member of Lambda as long as she was physically able and lived in Lea County, NM. She served as Chapter President during the
1960-62 biennium. Many times she made the trip to state society activities even into her eighties, usually alone and accompanied by her two teacup Chihuahuas. Her presence and her contributions to Lambda and Theta State will be missed.

Carey Jo Overton, 81, died March 5, 2015 in Midland. She was born June 26, 1933 in Strawn, Texas. Jo was cremated and there will be a memorial for her on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 11:00 CDT at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Midland, Texas. The church address is 1412 W. Illinois.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband Bob in January, 2011 and her daughter Francis, Class ’75, on December 25, 2001. She is survived by her son David Overton, Class ‘74 and wife Carol of Midland, Texas and two granddaughters Betsy and Abby. Jo is also survived by two sisters Mary Lou Rutter and Sally Nicholas.
Jo taught school in Jal for many years mostly second and third grades and some Spanish in High School. David said they were in and out of Jal a couple of times because his dad was a geologist and they followed the rigs. He said the last time they came here was in 1961. David was of school age at the time and Jo thought Jal had an exceptional school system so that determined the reason to stay in Jal.

UPDATE FROM PRESIDENT ANNE! This is what we are doing in our Lambda Chapter. Maribel will present us with some women who want to become a teacher at our next meeting for our scholarships. We are looking forward to helping some local women become teachers. Our community project will be to help provide food for children of poor families through the back-pack program. This provides food for the children during the weekend. They receive the backpacks on Friday at school. 2/28/14
